Crossbow Weider or the Joe Weider CrossBow or CrossBow and Weider. What ever you call it, at the moment the Weider CrossBow (not Wieder CrossBow) is very popular. We have had several requests for our addition to the growing number of Weider CrossBow Reviews, so here is our Weider CrossBow Review.

The Weider Crossbow is a machine home gym that uses a patented compound resistance system (CSR) instead of lead weight. Attached perpendicularly to the tower at the end of the bench are 6 bows. These bows (made from a rigid material that resists bending) provide resistance via cables and the amount of resistance can be changes by including more or less of the bows by way of a clip at each end.

Equipment

  • steel frame with aluminum bench seat slide rail

  • 6 bows. Includes 2 x 10-lb. bows, 1 x 20-lb. bow, 1 x 40-lb. bow and 2 x 80-lb. bows. Each bow features a lifetime replacement guarantee and you can even use the bows separately like the old chest expanders (remember those?)

  • minimum resistance = 5lbs
    maximum resistance = 240lbs (upgrades to 440lbs)

  • wide set cables for chest, shoulders, arms, back and plenty more

  • lat pulldown for back and triceps (back of upper arm)

  • leg extension for quadriceps (front of thigh)

  • leg curls for hamstrings (back of thigh)

  • wide lat pulldown bar, cable handles, waist band and ankle straps

  • leg press using waist band and foot plate

  • padded, flat-incline adjustable bench. Back can be removed and the seat then slides for seated aerobic row and leg press

Warranty

Lifetime warranty on the bows. 5 years on the rest.

Pros

  • much cheaper than the Bowflex, its main competitor

  • lots of exercises

  • leg press plate. A new feature that wasn't on the earlier model

  • light because there is no weight stack

  • sliding seat allows aerobic exercise

Cons

  • some of the exercises suggested for this machine are impractical or not so great

Overall

This is a good home gym that has gotten a positive reception from the many people who have bought one. It is usually compared to the Bowflex and comes up favorably, mostly because it is considerably cheaper but just as versatile.
