Lifeline Deluxe Portable Gym

The Lifeline Gym (also known as the Lifeline Deluxe Portable Gym) is a small piece of equipment with a whole lot of potential (like a maximum resistance of 350lbs). It is basically a short bar with detachable handles and a bungee cable.
Its target consumer is the busy executive or anyone for that matter who is either never at home long enough to make use of a home gym or does not have the room.
As an example of how it is used, arm curls are performed by standing on the bungee cables and curling the bar (or handles for a dumbbell type exercise).
It has received a few favorable reviews from the likes of "Sharper Image", "Money" and "Sports Fitness" magazines so Home Gym Review decided to take a look.
Equipment
- 30" take-apart lifting bar
- 6' cable with handles (there are 10 different level of resistance bands)
- rotator handles
- door attachment
- jogging (proprioception) belt - attach the bungee cable to a door handle or something and the other end to the back of the belt. Then you run against the resistance of the belt
- carrying case
- instructional manual by fitness expert Jon Hinds, CSCS, CPT, NASM, former strength coach of the LA Clippers
- Lifeline Video
Size
The Lifeline Gym weighs in at a whopping 2lbs! The bar itself is 30" long. Unless you live in a shoebox you should have no problems with storage.
Pros
- cheap
- very small
- very portable
- simple. Meaning there is not much that can go wrong and new cables are cheap and easy to buy. Home Gym Review recommends you buy an extra cable or 2 at the time of purchase
- Lifeline have been around since 1975 so they've had plenty of time to work out the bugs
- it has a good reputation
Cons
- there is only so much you can do. This gym is never going to give you the body a regular home gym would
- the cables will stretch eventually. Another reason to order a few extra when you buy
Overall
Good idea, good company, good product, good price.
If it is a highly portable, small, cheap gym you want then have a close look at this nifty device.
Sellers
Not many companies sell this online. Most sites besides Bodytrends just link back to Bodytrends anyway
Bodytrends - $42.49 + shipping
Wisdom King - $50.60 + shipping
Unfortunately, if you would prefer something more like a regular gym but still small and mobile you will never find it at a comparable price. Best we can think of is probably the Mia Finnegan's Full Circuit Trainer
