Cables, cables, cables. Yep, Home Gym Review had no trouble seeing why, of all the Body Solid home gyms, the EXM-1900S is called the "Cable Action Home Gym". If you like cables you're in for a treat.
If your not familiar with the benefits of cables, let us at Home Gym Review fill you in a little.
Cables are more versatile than bars or fixed motion handles since they can be moved in many different directions which means many different exercises.
Secondly, when using a bar or fixed motion handles, joint stabilizing muscles are on holiday. That's because the bar or machine is doing the work for them.
So what you may say.
Well, these smaller muscles are important for protecting joints and definitely aren't on holiday during everyday activities. In fact, if the strength difference between smaller and larger muscles becomes too large, joints may become even more susceptible to injury than before you began regular strength training.
In brief....cables are good.

Pros
cables, cables, cables. I love cables. Some of the team here at Home Gym Review prefer bars or fixed motion handles but not me. I get sore shoulders but with cables I can find the position which isn't painful and train that way.
also if you are willing to be inventive cables can mean a bunch of new and interesting exercises
extended axis. This means you will be able to do exercises, especially when bringing your hands together in front of the body, without rubbing the cables along your skin
excellent quality materials
lifetime warranty
Cons
no bar or fixed motion handles. Sorry to be hypocritical, but for some people it just ain't a homegym without a fixed bench press or lat pulldown bar. But we think it wouldn't be so difficult to rig a lat pulldown bar
some may want a heavier stack.........macho, macho ma-an. Oh what a macho!
Overall
This machine is a beauty, especially if you know what you are doing or you need to train for a specific sport. However, nothing but cables may be a little daunting for novices and beginners. If that's the case, you may be more comfortable with a regular gym that has fixed motion handles.
Sellers
Want the best of both worlds? No problem....check out Body Craft's Xpress HomeGym (also reviewed by us). It has cable and a fixed press.....even an optional leg press.
