home gyms small picOur reviews of home gyms would not be complete without a look at Body Craft's Big Daddy. That's not the name of these home gyms but its what we like to call them. This 2 stack legend keeps in step with the rest of Body Craft's quality products.

As the name suggests, the Family Xpress is a gym that can be used by all the family because it has multiple stations (3 with optional 4th) and 2 weight stacks permitting multiple users. It also offers the greatest range of exercises of any home gym, quite a claim we know but it is not without merit. Like its smaller brother, the Xpress Home Gym (also reviewed in Home Gym Review), the Family Xpress has cable arms instead of a pec dec. And these amazingly versatile cable arms allow for heaps of extra exercises that you can't do with a pec dec.

Like the Body Craft Galena (also reviewed in Home Gym Review) and Xpress, the Family Xpress has earned the recognition of Consumer Guide who have awarded it the honor of displaying their "Recommended" badge.

Equipment

  • scratch and chip proof, powder coated, heavy steel frame
     
  • industrial grade pulleys, bushes and bearings
     
  • 2000lb tested, nylon coated, high tensile cables
     
  • lat pulldown bar, short curl bar, cable arm handles and ankle strap
     
  • 2 x 200lb weight stacks with guards
     
  • heavy duty vinyl covered, ergonomic, adjustable, high density foam pads and benches
     
  • fully adjustable bench press for chest, shoulders and back
     
  • lat pulldown for back or triceps
     
  • cable arms for chest, shoulders, arms or back and plenty of exercises for each
     
  • abdominal crunch for abs and hip flexors
     
  • low pulley for back, arms, shoulders, leg kicks (inner/outer thigh)
     
  • leg extension for quadriceps
     
  • leg curls for hamstrings
     
  • leg press for quadriceps (front of thigh) and hamstrings (back of thigh) or calves. Leg press pulley system effectively doubles the load so you can lift a maximum of 400 lbs
     
  • optional hip station for hips (that is, for butt and thighs)
     
  • optional dip and hanging leg raise station for abs and hip flexors or back and arms and shoulders and chest

NB - only one of the optional stations can be added

Whoa, that is heaps of equipment and exercises. We here at Home Gym Review didn't want to stop playing with this gym. Using the cable arms we were able to come up with some great sport specific exercises not mentioned above. Most importantly they were exercises we couldn't do on most other homegyms.
